Getting a credit card is almost indispensable today. The only thing is, now that I have cancelled my American Express credit card, I’ve lost access to so many things. I don’t think I realized how many of the most basic things in life relied on having a credit card, even to joining my local gym in Philadelphia. The old days of cash being king are gone.

It’s all very well using your Mastercard, Visa or American Express Card anywhere in the world but it is often for things you don’t actually need and with money you do not have. Although American Express credit cards are a really convenient way to make a purchase - get it now and worry about it tomorrow - it does come at a heavy cost. Credit card debt is mounting everywhere. Today, credit card debt is one of the biggest worries facing us in America.

Credit Card

That is one of the main reasons why I had to cancel my American Express credit card in the first place. There was nothing to stop me because I wasn’t actually taking money from my pocket. Charging everything to my card was stupid because before too long the debts just spiraled out of control. I stated to panic because the debt became so great it was impossible to pay it.

Repaying my debt wasn’t easy and it took the help of a debt refinancing service to put me back on track. It’s not something I ever want to repeat. The hardship was worth it though because I am now debt free and my American Express credit card is no more. Many people would think me unfair about blaming a credit card but they need to understand something about people first.

If you pay for goods or services in cash, you actually see that money coming out of your pocket. It’s easy using a credit card and at the time quite painless. I would spend money on everything, almost like a person possessed but before long, there wasn’t anything left. So now there is no American Express credit card problem for me to worry about.
